Next to the twinkling lights, bedecked halls and roving carolers that predominate this time of year, that plain brass menorah you inherited from Grandma Ethel may not be very inspiring. Consider brightening up your Hanukkah with one of the many festive and modern menorahs available online. Check out the Menorahmorph, which also comes in pink, orange and lime. It was created by designer Karim Rashid, commissioned by The Jewish Museum. Its bright colors and form - putting a contemporary spin on a traditional object - are the artist’s signature. This menorah is $50 ($45 for Jewish Museum members). The Rainbow Link Menorah, $275, provides entertainment (you can arrange it in any series of colors by linking together the individual pieces) and is a stylish anodized aluminum that is made in Israel. Anat Basanta’s Sabra menorah is a completely new interpretation, with nine separate shimmering petals (representing the leaves of the Israeli “prickly pear”) to be arranged any way you like. It costs $78. Got money to burn? The Puzzle Menorah, made of sterling and nickel, will keep your mind sharp and your Hanukkah loopy - for $2,600. Still not sold? Check out the selection at ZionJudaica.com. There’s a menorah for every taste and budget at this superstore website. We particularly like the Fitted Menorah ($130), made of colorful movable pieces that, when aligned, form illustrations of Jerusalem or Noah’s Ark. And take a look at Karen Rossi’s Wedding Menorah for $45 and her Transportation Menorah for $50 (little kids will love this one). There are also electric display menorahs, small and large, that can let the neighbors know that mechanical reindeers aren’t the only way to light up the front lawn.
